Governor Okezie Ikpeazu loses senatorial election to Abaribe

Abaribe, who defected to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) after losing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial ticket to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, was declared winner in Aba on Tuesday, February 28.

The returning officer for the senatorial election Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi, said Abaribe polled a total of 49,693 votes to defeat his closest rivals and the candidate of the Labour Party Mr. Chinedu Onyeizu, who got 43,903 votes.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party came third in the senatorial election as he polled 28,422 votes.
