Disney+ and Hulu Merge

Disney recently announced that an all-new app merging Disney+ and Hulu will launch in late 2023.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the news during the latest earnings call, explaining that the company will continue offering Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ all as standalone options. Still, they will also combine services as it “is a logical progression” of its direct-to-consumer offerings “that will provide greater opportunities for advertisers while giving bundle subscribers access to more robust and streamlined content…”

Iger also announced that Disney+ will debut another price increase. This news comes just months after adding a $3/month charge to its ad-free streaming tier’s monthly fee in December. Iger did not state when the new price increase would occur, but he did say the ad-free and ad-supported tiers will cost more than $11/month and $8/month, respectively.

The news comes after Disney released its earnings report, which showed a 26% decrease in operating losses for its streaming business.
