Chelsea have won their fourth straight Women’s Super League title after a 3-0 win over Reading today, May 27, which led to the relegation of the home side.

Chelsea opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Guro Reiten crossed for Australia international Sam Kerr to steal a march on her defender and head home. Reiten netted the second in the 42nd minute.

Kerr netted again in the 88th minute to complete the rout and add the Women’s Super League title to the FA Cup Chelsea won on penalties against Manchester United on May 14.

Following the defeat, Reading have been relegated to the second-tier Championship as they finished bottom of the 12-team league. It brings to an end an eight-year stay in the top flight, with them finishing as high as fourth in the 2017-18 season.

Chelsea’s main challengers to the title this season are Manchester United, who won 1-0 at Liverpool but finished two points behind in the table.

The London club’s dominance in English women’s football remains strong and a fourth league crown in a row is a significant achievement.
