Afro-fusion icon and Grammy award winner Burna Boy may soon embrace a new role that of a father.
During his 34th birthday party in Lagos on Wednesday, July 3, the music star surprised many when he shared that he’s seriously contemplating starting a family.
A video from the star-filled event, which quickly went viral, shows Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, speaking openly in pidgin English about what influenced his change of heart.
He said, “Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. Omo, I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikins,” recalling a meaningful conversation with the flamboyant oil businessman Jowizaza.
This announcement contrasts with his statement just a year ago, when he made it clear he wasn’t ready to become a father. At that time, Burna Boy emphasized that he didn’t want to have children unless he could fully commit to being there for them.
Back in May 2023, he told his fans, “I can’t have kids now and not be there for them. When I settle down or get married, then yes.”
Now, following his recent birthday and the inspiring talk with Jowizaza, Burna Boy appears to be rethinking his priorities and many fans are excited about this new chapter.
