A decade after the iconic CW series came to a close, and a few months after the HBO Max reboot was canceled after two seasons, The ‘GG’ hive is seemingly assembling again over some sneaky social media speculation over a new reboot being in the works featuring the original cast.

These new whispers come almost a year after The Blast covered a former cast member of the original show’s appearance on the HBO above Max reboot; at the time, showrunner Joshua Saffron hinted at a possible return by Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Georgina Sparks for several seasons on the original show.

Trachtenberg eventually reprised her role last December.

The former Mothxr frontman and current star of Netflix’s “You” was not shy in expressing his feelings during the original series.

In an interview with Variety, Badgley describes his time spent on the set of “Gossip Girl” from 2007 until 2012 in two ways: his memories are of a “fast-paced” environment he felt was “fun,” but he also opened up about his mental state.

“Like anyone who experiences some degree of fame and wealth, I was presented with the universal truth that not only does it not make your life better or easier, it can greatly complicate things and make you quite unhappy,” he told the publication.

Badgley denied he had struggled with substance abuse; he credited former girlfriend Blake Lively (Serena Van der Woodsen) for “saving” him from going down that road.

He added, “I was never anything I would define as suicidal, but I was certainly in despair. It had to do with ‘Do I matter?’, ‘Do I matter,’ and ‘Does anything matter?’ These questions do inform how we feel. The answer I came upon was ‘yes.’ I think we all have to come to that. I don’t know how you could come to ‘no’ and be happy, so we all have to come to that ‘yes’ somehow. Probably repeatedly.” (per The Blast)

What Are The Details Of The Potential ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot?

The HBO Max reboot was canceled in January. According to our report on the cancellation, there were only 21 episodes of the reboot, which began in 2021.

Saffron announced the news on Twitter. He wrote, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce ‘GOSSIP GIRL’ will not continue on HBO Max. The EPs and I will be forever grateful to the network and studio for their faith and support; the writers for their devious brains and dexterous talent; the superstar cast for being the greatest of collaborators and friends; and the crew for their hard work, dedication, and love for this project.” (per The Blast)

Yesterday, the official Instagram account inspired some gossip, indeed!

Posting a shot of the original cast, the photo is captioned, “Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long time away, I see it didn’t take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you…”

Elite Daily reports the same post was added to the show’s official Twitter. The tweet has nearly 2,000 replies!

The official Twitter for the Empire State Building tweeted, “Excuse me.”

A fan tweeted, “I would di3 for a more ‘adult’ gossip girl with the original adult cast. Marriage. Kids. Inheritance. Everything. 15/10”

“If you follow up with a post that we can stream the original series “when HBO Max becomes Max on May 23rd,” we will never forgive you,” another fan tweeted.
“On Instagram, Penn, Leighton, Blake, and Chace are tagged,” a fan pointed out. “I want this to be true.”

None of the original cast members have acknowledged these rumors on their social media feeds as of this writing! Maybe the only source of information at this time is Gossip Girl herself? XOXO
