Arsenal delivered a statement performance in Eindhoven, dismantling PSV 7-1 to take a commanding lead in their Champions League round of 16 tie.

The result marks their biggest-ever away win in the competition’s knockout stage.

The Gunners set the tone early, with Jurrien Timber heading home Declan Rice’s pinpoint cross in the 18th minute.

Just moments later, 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly combined to double the lead.

Mikel Merino made it 3-0 after a defensive lapse from the hosts.

PSV found a lifeline before halftime when Noa Lang converted a penalty following a reckless foul by Thomas Partey.

However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed as Martin Ødegaard and Leandro Trossard struck within three minutes of the restart.

Ødegaard added his second in the 73rd minute before Riccardo Calafiori capped off the scoring in the 85th.

Arsenal’s dominance was helped by PSV’s poor defending, but Mikel Arteta’s side were ruthless in front of goal, ending their recent struggles in attack.

With a near-unassailable lead, Arsenal are all but through to the quarter-finals, where a tougher test awaits against either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.
