World Cup winner Alexis MacAllister has been fined £220 and given three points on his licence after being caught speeding in his £130,000 Mercedes Benz just hours after helping Brighton to an historic Premier League win.

The 24-year-old was clocked driving along the seafront at 40mph in a 30mph zone in his blacked-out windowed G-Wagon at 2.22am on May 22.

The midfielder had just hours earlier played 90 minutes in Brighton’s 3-1 historic win over Southampton as Roberto De Zerbi’s side qualified for Europe for the first time in the club’s history.

MacAllister featured from the bench in the Seagulls’ 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City just two days later.

The Argentinian had months earlier lifted the World Cup in Qatar alongside eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi after Argentina beat France on penalties in a pulsating final.

He sealed a £35million move to Liverpool in the summer and lives in a five-bed £3 million property in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

His speeding on the A259 Marine Parade carries penalty points and the case was dealt with by a single justice procedure at Brighton Magistrates’ Court last week.

MacAllister received a £220 fine and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88, plus costs of £90. He also received three points on his licence.

The charge was authorised on November 9.
