Two women put on clown masks, broke into a mother’s home in south west Wales, and attacked her with a stanley knife, before dousing her with bleach, a court has heard.

Kathryn Llewellyn, 43, and her friend Teresa Morgan-Peters, 45, allegedly wore ‘trick or treat’ clown masks on Halloween as cover, before launching the horror bleach assault in response to a Facebook row.

The Halloween nightmare began after the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was woken up by a series of three silent phone calls at 1am, which ended with the callers cackling down the phone, prosecutor Robin Rouch told the court.

‘They started laughing like clowns cackling,’ Mr Rouch said.

Llewellyn and Morgan-Peters then barged into their victim’s home in the town of Ystradgynlais, near Swansea, before attacking her with a stanley knife and dousing her with bleach, the court heard.

The victim said: ‘I thought it must be one of my mates clowning around with Halloween. I saw two figures coming down the hallway in clown masks.

‘One started coming at me with a Stanley knife. Then the other one came at me and I had bleach thrown at me.

‘They didn’t say nothing. One had me down to bleach me.’

The victim told that court she pulled one of the attackers’ masks off but was unable to make out who it was in the darkness – only that it was a white woman.

Following the attack, the victim then fled to the home of a friend.

‘My adrenaline was going. I didn’t know it was bleach at the time. I couldn’t smell it, I couldn’t taste it, I couldn’t feel it,’ she said.

‘I only knew about it when I went to my neighbour’s and my black pyjama top was orange,’ she added.

‘She was going to kill me. They wanted me dead. They knew exactly what they were doing. It was planned; it was vicious; it was co-ordinated.’

The victim suffered knife injuries to her face, neck, arm, back, and thigh at her home in Ystradgynlais, near Swansea.

The attack came just days after row on social media between Llewellyn and the victim, which saw Llewellyn post explicit ‘nonsense’ about the alleged victim on Facebook.

Llewellyn’s partner was later asked to stop by a member of her family, before he replied: ‘Watch your f****** back. Don’t f*** with me’.

David Leathley, defending Llewellyn, told the court Llewellyn had ‘distinctive’ tattoos and piercings which weren’t identified by the victim.

Nicola Powell, representing Morgan-Peters, asked the complainant if she had ever had any issues with her client.

She said: ‘Never. This is what shocked me. She was lovely. It’s a shame as I really thought a lot of her.’

Llewellyn, of Godrergraig, and Morgan-Peters, of Ystradgynlais, both denied charges of burglary with intent to inflict GBH on the complainant, and wounding with intent.

Morgan-Peters has pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, which Llewellyn denies.

The trial at Swansea Crown Court continues.
