Woman Tortured Girlfriend for Months Before Strangling Her & Storing Body in Container

A New York woman spent three months torturing her partner before murdering her last year and hiding her body in a storage bin, prosecutors said on Monday.

Kenya Tilford, 41, allegedly tortured Concetta Morton, 27, at their Westchester County apartment from June to September 2023. Tilford eventually strangled Morton and stashed her body in a storage container in their apartment for a week, according to the Westchester Journal News.

Tilford was arrested at an Elmsford hotel on September 15, 2023, after police got a tip. Prosecutors said Tilford was filmed purchasing bleach, tarps, paper towels, a chainsaw, rubber gloves, a hooded coverall, and the storage bin used to conceal Morton’s body.

According to Westchester Journal News, Tilford claimed she was in Virginia at the time of Morton’s death.

“In a first for this Office, we are charging the defendant for not only murder, but also for allegedly acting in an especially cruel manner and inflicting torture upon Ms. Morton before her death,” District Attorney Miriam Rocah said in a statement.

Officials have not disclosed how they believe Tilford tortured Morton.

Tilford is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first-degree strangulation, concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence. She is also facing criminal charges for threatening someone with a knife.

Tilford, who remains jailed without bail, is due in court on July 16.
