Woman pleads to helping stuff 5-year-old’s body in suitcase, hiding it in woods; Victim’s mom believed he was a ‘demon’ and is still on the run

A Louisiana woman was sentenced to 30 years in prison for her role in the death of a 5-year-old boy from southern Indiana found in a suitcase abandoned in the woods.

Dawn Elaine Coleman, 41, received the sentence after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the tragic death of young Cairo Jordan. She’ll serve 25 in prison and get five years probation under the terms of her plea agreement, online court records show.

“You packaged Cairo up like trash … and dumped him like garbage,” Judge Larry Medlock said to Coleman at the hearing, CBS Louisville affiliate WLKY-TV reported. “You chose not to stop it, not to call the authorities.”
