A 39-year-old Wisconsin woman with a lengthy rap sheet is now accused of first-degree intentional homicide after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the chest at an apartment in Appleton and tried to convince friends to “just tell the police he stabbed himself” two months ago.
Samantha Jean Krebs was reportedly hit with a $1 million bond Monday as she faces charges in Outagamie County over the July 18 stabbing of J.J.C., a man that court documents described as her fiancé. The criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime detailed that witnesses J.R.P. and C.L.C., a boyfriend and girlfriend, thought that they were going over to Krebs’ place that night to hang out, “shoot the s—, and play some games,” but instead they walked in to find J.J.C. bleeding out in the kitchen and Krebs standing over him — to their shock.
“Holy f—,” the male witness said upon seeing the victim, just moments after walking in the door and saying hello, the complaint said.
Next, the witness and his girlfriend said, Krebs “looked me dead in the eye and she said just tell the cops J.J.C. stabbed himself” because she couldn’t go back to prison and then left the scene, court documents added.
“I can’t go back to prison; I can’t go back to prison,” the female witness recalled Krebs saying. The witness noted “she 110% believes Samantha stabbed J.J.C..” and that her boyfriend told her the suspect “has an extensive record for this kind of behavior.”

Wisconsin court records do show that Krebs has numerous prior convictions spanning from 2011 to 2022. Those convictions include offenses for battery, meth, cocaine, and heroin possession, and injury by negligent use of a weapon or explosive.
When the witnesses called an ambulance, the suspect allegedly “kissed” the victim, said she “loved him,” and left “calm” but with a degree of “haste”:
J.R.P. said he then decided to call an ambulance and told Samantha that she needed to go. J.R.P. stated that Samantha told him to help her look for her wallet and her keys and he did help her with that. C.L.C. then said that Samantha kissed J.J.C. before she left and said she was sorry and that she loved him. J.R.P. said she walked out of the apartment and left in a vehicle that didn’t have any plates. Sgt. Kuether asked if Samantha stayed with them at the apartment. J.R.P. replied yes and that Samantha tried to help J.J.C. He described Samantha’s demeanor as calm, but with a little bit of haste and a little bit of panic.
Authorities allege that after Krebs left the apartment, she drove to the address of witness J.F.H., who apparently helped the victim get VA benefits and mental health treatment.
Cops said that they when they found Krebs there, J.F.H. “questioned why Samantha was arrested[.]”
“Samantha uttered, I just watched my fiancé kill himself and now I’m being arrested,” the complaint said.
Krebs allegedly told police first that she “found out in the newspaper” that her boyfriend died, and then said she “just watched my fiancé kill himself.”
In an ensuing search of the residence, cops claimed to find evidence of Krebs’ handwritten notes about needing to get suboxone to treat opioid withdrawal affects, plus more about apparent wedding plans.
“I lost it and couldn’t breathe couldn’t think speak nothing. I lost my fiance my life w/ had just set a wedding date for June 26th,” one note allegedly said. “I had just bought a dress to go to Family court w/ him to get his son back it Feels not real then to think I lost my future husband now I might loose my Freedom because usually they throw you in jail during any investigation and I would have to drop oFF medications that could possibly kill me from w/drawl. How could this happed to me.”
Another part of the note detailed her alleged version of events.
“I never thought he would until he had something by his side and I don’t think he relized those knives we so sharp, be our other knives super dull he made it look like he was going to Fake me out but it went happened so quickly that I didn’t even relize the severity on the situation till he walk over by the doorby and me holding his side rib stomach I don’t remember all I saw was blood in his hands and he began to Freak out and I asked him to let me see and it was gushing,” the note said.
