Woman Found Beheaded in Home, Boyfriend Charged With Murder

A South Dakota woman was reportedly found dismembered at her home on Thursday, leading to her boyfriend’s arrest.

Three women told police who responded to Heather Bodden’s Yankton apartment that they discovered her headless home in the residence. They also claimed Bodden, 41, had messaged them on Wednesday about her boyfriend, Craig Allen Nichols Jr., 32, threatening her with a weapon, according to KTIV.

Surveillance footage from the night before Bodden’s body was found allegedly shows Nichols at the residence. Two other men were also seen entering her apartment Wednesday night and leaving an hour later, according to KTIV.

The two other men allegedly told police that they were in the apartment with Nichols and Bodden to use drugs. They also claimed Nichols’ girlfriend was alive when they left.

Video footage reportedly also showed Nichols entering and leaving the apartment multiple times early Thursday. He was filmed eventually leaving the home with two trash bags in tow, according to KTIV.

Nichols was apprehended a mile from his girlfriend’s apartment. He allegedly barricaded himself in his home after officers attempted to execute a search warrant.

Nichols is charged with Bodden’s second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter. KELO reported that his bond was set at $500,000.
