Wisconsin Teen Charged With Gunning Down Father After He Kicked Him Out of Apartment

A Wisconsin teenager is behind bars, charged with gunning down his father just two weeks after the dad kicked him out of the apartment where they lived.

Police said Corey Williams Jr., 18, and his mother went to the apartment on July 2 to pick up Williams’ siblings, WITI reported. According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, Williams’ parents began arguing. Williams said his father, Corey Williams Sr., 47, was holding a gun. The older man, Williams said, grabbed him by the collar and began tossing him around, so he grabbed another gun and opened fire, at least five times.

In court this week, Court commissioner Barry Williams pressed prosecutors on whether the father had a gun, but they could not answer the question. Investsigators did find two guns at the scene, but prosecutors didn’t know if one of them was found near the father’s body.

Assistant District Attorney Karine O’Byrne told the court that other family members present in the house said they didn’t see either man with a gun, but everyone — including Williams — agreed that the teen shot his father.

Defense Attorney Jade Hall told WITI that it was “an extremely sad case for a variety of reasons.”

“Mr. Williams tells me this is not the first time that the alleged victim has abused him,” Hall said.

Williams, who has no prior criminal history, was ordered held on a $10,000 bond and ordered to have no weapons. He is due in court on July 14, when he will face a charge of second-degree reckless homicide – use of a dangerous weapon.
