A Wisconsin man died Wednesday, a month after a punch to the head from a stranger, apparently upset about his tattoos, sent him to the ground, where his head struck concrete.
Kevin Sehmer, 64, was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm after the June 17 incident at Tabi’s Lake Country Wine Ba in Hartland, WISN reported. Sehmer told detectives he didn’t punch Josh Davies but “violently pushed” him because he was angry and upset, according to WITI.
Prosecutors, who said they are now considering amended charges, said witnesses reported hearing Sehmer make comments about the tattoos while they were inside the bar and tell Davies he was “going to hell, and God would not save him.”
The witnesses said Sehmer also threw a stool at Davies, who was out with his wife on a date night. They said Sehmer followed Davies out of the bar, “screaming about God and tattoos,” when he left to get away from the angry man, WISN said.
Sehmer said he shoved Davies to protect himself, but prosecutors said video from the scene didn’t back him up.
Davies suffered multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds, while Sehmer was released on a $1,500 bond.
“This was a tragic, horrific, senseless, heinous act that has now taken my brother’s life,” Davies’ sister, Jamie Davies, told WITI. “The guy didn’t even know my brother.”

Jamie Davies said her brother has tattoo sleeves and other “designs that he designed himself, has had friends tattoo him; absolutely nothing that would be offensive to anyone.”
“He was 39 years old and did not deserve to die like this,” she said.
WITI contacted the attorney of record for Sehmer, who said they were saddened that Davies had died and offered condolences to the family.
