Former X-Factor finalist Rachel Hylton is on the run from police after jumping bail on a drugs charge.

The 42 year-old singer, who made the Series 5 finals, was due to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court today, but failed to turn up.

She previously lived in a Croydon B&B, but now resides in the West Sussex town.

Hylton, of Southgate, Crawley is now wanted on a warrant for her arrest.

She is charged with possessing cannabis resin – a Class B drug – at Crawley Police Station on October 13.

Hylton reached the final of the X Factor in 2008 alongside JLS and Alexandra Burke.

She competed in the Over 25s category and was mentored by Dannii Monogue.

Hylton auditioned with Amy Winehouse’s You Know I’m No Good, and throughout the competition sang songs including Feeling Good and Rule The World.

But she was eliminated in week seven of the live shows, losing out in the sing-off to JLS.

But the mother-of-five failed to turn up at court on Tuesday or provide an explanation for her absence.

Prosecutor Jeremy King told the court: ‘She signed the charge sheet to appear today and nothing has been heard.’

The magistrates issued a warrant for Hylton’s arrest without bail.
