Amiah and Amberson Robertson

An Indiana woman was sentenced in Marion County Friday, in connection with the 2019 disappearance and presumed death of her infant daughter, Amiah Robertson.

In return for her plea for felony neglect of a dependent, the state dropped three additional felony neglect charges against Amber Robertson. Judge Marie Kern accepted Robertson’s plea and sentenced her to six years.

She received 637 days of credit for time served and an additional 212 days for good behavior. The remaining days were suspended and replaced with probation, FOX 59 reports. Kern then instructed Robertson to attend parenting classes and complete a mental health evaluation.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Marion County police arrested Robertson in 2022, following Amiah’s disappearance. Amiah was last seen on March 9, 2019, but wasn’t reported missing until a week later.

A Marion County grand jury subsequently indicted Robertson after she “knowingly placed her 8-month-old daughter Amiah Robertson in a situation that endangered her life or health, and/or ‘abandoned or cruelly confined’ the girl, and/or deprived her of ‘necessary support’ which resulted in serious bodily injury,” court records state.

Investigators said the last time Amiah was seen “alive and well” was with Robinson’s then-boyfriend, Robert Lyons, off of the 200 block of South Holmes in Indianapolis on March 9. On the same day, he was spotted in the areas of Rockville Road and Mickley Avenue for “an extended period of time.”

Lyons later told police several locations where the infant might be found. A few of the locations, according to authorities, didn’t exist. The other locations were searched thoroughly. Police didn’t find her, but found some of the infant’s belongings near Eagle Creek.

Amiah is presumed dead, but the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unknown. Her remains have never been located.

Lyons also accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 16 years behind bars in May, with six years of the sentence suspended.
