6 Arrested in Months-Long Georgia Child Sexual Abuse Investigation

A Utah man has been charged with mutlple felonies in the kidnapping and rape of a 9-year-old girl more than two years ago.

Court documents say Tyler James Webb, 23, is charged with child kidnapping, rape of a child, sodomy of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, aggravated child abuse, and three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, KSL reported.

The documents say the 9-year-old girl was at her home on April 13, 2022, when her sister contacted Webb and told him to pick her up. The documents do not say how the sister and Webb were acquainted or what Webb was supposed to do when he picked up the girl.

Police say Webb arrived at the residence and put the 9-year-old girl into the trunk of his car and drove her to a car wash, where he raped her with a vacuum.

The girl “tried to run away, but Webb slapped and choked her” and shoved her back into the trunk. Webb then drove into the mountains and raped the girl again at the edge of a cliff.

From there, he drove her to his father’s home, and the victim again “tried to run from Webb, but he caught her and tied her up again.” Then he raped her twice more before driving her to the state capitol and taking lewd photographs of her.

The case was investigated by Taylorsville police, who didn’t say when they learned about the allegations, who told them about them, or why it took more than two years to bring charges.

Prosecutors are asking that Webb be held without bail “due to the serious nature of the allegations and to keep the victim safe.”
