UPDATE: Missing Pregnant Woman Found Alive After Being Kidnapped at Gunpoint

A Washington woman was found safe on Wednesday, more than a week after she was reportedly abducted from her home at gunpoint.

Jackelin Perez, 21, was reportedly kidnapped from her Auburn home on October 13. Perez was still considered missing this past Tuesday, when Auburn police said the FBI and other agencies arrested a 24-year-old suspect in Texas, according to KOMO.

According to KING, Perez’s husband arrived home 20 minutes after she was taken at gunpoint. He called the police the next morning.

Police said they do not believe the 24-year-old suspect acted alone. It is unclear why Perez was taken from Washington and released in Mexico.

“What we believe is she was caught up in some illegal activity that she was not involved in,” police spokesperson Kolby Crossley said.

A day after the arrest, Auburn police confirmed with Mexican officials that Perez was in Mexico. Police said Perez was found earlier in the week but it took time to confirm it was her and she was safe.

Perez is six weeks pregnant. KING reported that Perez is back in her native Guatemala and she plans to stay there.
