Police have launched an urgent manhunt after two men allegedly chased a victim while wielding machetes.

Greater Manchester Police today released photos showing the pair they are asking the public to help identify.

In the terrifying incident on June 5, police officers were called to Alder Avenue in Wigan after reports of a ‘disturbance’.

A statement describes how the two males are said to have ‘chased the victim with a machete and [attempted] to hit him with it.’

The photos show a man in an orange vest top and black shorts, who is holding what appears to be a machete, running towards the camera.

The second man is dressed in a grey tracksuit, with a white t-shirt emblazoned with a black square. 

A statement released by the force said: ‘On 5th June 2023 there was a disturbance on Alder Ave Wigan where by the two males pictured below are reported to have chased the victim with a machete and attempted to hit him with it. 

‘If you recognise these males can you identify them using the above crime number. This can be done by calling 101, reporting it online on GMP website or on Crime stoppers.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting crime number CRI/06LL/0017349/23.
