Thomas Matthew Crooks: What We Know About Gunman Who Shot at Trump, Killed Another During Saturday’s Political Rally

The man suspected of shooting former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally on Saturday was reportedly bullied in high school

Julianna Grooms, 19, a classmate of Thomas Matthew Crooks’ told the New York Times that the alleged Trump rally gunman was called “the school shooter” at Bethel High School and teased about his hygiene. Former classmates described Crooks, 20,

“He just wanted to stay by himself,” Crooks’ former guidance counselor, Jim Knapp, told the news outlet.

Crooks was allegedly stationed on a roof 130 yards from where Trump was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

A Secret Service member reportedly shot and killed Crooks, a minute after he shot former President Donald Trump in the ear and fatally shot volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore, who was attending the rally.

Footage reportedly showed Crooks shooting from a roof as Secret Service agents piled onto Trump, who dropped to the ground after a bullet grazed him.

Reports indicated that bystanders spotted Crooks on the roof at least two minutes before Saturday’s shooting. Additionally, sources told CNN that snipers were inside the building Crooks was shooting from.

Officials have not disclosed a motive, but federal authorities said they have gained access to Crooks’ phone.
