North Carolina state troopers on Monday rescued a 5-year-old girl who had been abducted from her school earlier in the day, only to discover a second child in the vehicle who had been abducted six months earlier.
Jovan Orlando Bradshaw, 38, faces two counts of custodial interference in Rock Hill, South Carolina, WRAL reports, and may face additional charges.
Rock Hill police responded to a local elementary school Monday morning, after Bradshaw had come to the school and taken the 5- year-old, believed to be his daughter, in violation of a cusody agreement.
Police believed Bradshaw was headed to Virginia and notified the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Troopers spotted Bradshaw’s vehicle on Interstate 85 in Orange County and initiated a traffic stop. They found the 5-year-old girl in the vehicle, along with the second child, whose age was not given.
Rock Hill police said later that child had been abducted from school on May 23 in a similar manner as the girl, although the abduction was not reported to police.

Bradshaw is in jail on a fugitive from justice charge in Orange County, awaiting extradition to South Carolina, according to jail records. The two children are in the care of Orange County Child Protective Services until they can be reunited with a custodial parent.
