Alleged Killer Yoga Teacher Kaitlin Armstrong Makes a Break for It After Doctor’s Appointment

Jury selection begins Monday in the murder trial of Texas yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong, accused of shooting a romantic rival to death and then fleeing the country and changing her appearance to avoid arrest.

Armstrong, 36, is charged with killing pro cyclist Moriah “Mo” Wilson on May 11. 2022, shooting the 25-year-old at the Austin home of a friend, where Wilson was staying while competing in a race nearby, as CrimeOnline has reported.

Wilson allegedly had a fling with Armstrong’s boyfriend, fellow cyclist Colin Strickland, while the two were separated. Prosecutors say Armstrong believed they were still having an affair when Wilson was killed, just after Strickland dropped her off at the friend’s house after the pair had gone swimming together.

Strickland lied about where he had gone that day, feeding Armstrong’s suspicions. Her jeep was reportedly seen in the area near the time Wilson was killed.

Police questioned Armstrong briefly, but released her. Armstrong used that time to flee Texas, ultimately landing in Costa Rica, where she cut and died her hair and began teaching yoga under an assumed name. A 43-day manhunt brought her back to Texas in july, and she pleaded not guilty.

Earlier this month, Armstrong tried to escape custody during a medical visit. Officers chased her for a about a mile and brought her back into custody. She was charged with escape causing bodily injury and is due in court on that charge next month.

On Monday, jury selection begins in the murder trial.
