Yadwinder Singh, 44, is charged with murdering his wife Amarjit Kaur Sardar, 41, at their property in Woodhill, south of Brisbane , at 9am on Thursday

The man charged with murdering his wife on their farm is accused of having tried to make it look like her death was an accident by running her over with a tractor.

Yadwinder Singh, 44, is alleged to have killed his wife Amarjit Kaur Sardar, 41, at their property in Woodhill, south of Brisbane, at 9am on Thursday.

First responders were called to the scene where they allegedly found Ms Sardar mutilated after being ran over by a sugar cane slasher and were unable to save her.

Police will allege that Singh had murdered his wife before interfering with her corpse in order to make the death seem like an accident.

Singh appeared before Beenleigh Magistrates Court and has been charged with murder and ‘misconduct with corpse by interfering’ on Friday.

Detective Inspector Chris Knight told the media: ‘He [Singh] reported that his wife had passed away and there were some limited follow-up questions fed to him by the [ambulance] operators.’

Inspector Knight added that detectives had confiscated both Singh’s and Ms Sardar’s phones and that Singh’s triple-0 call were ‘part of our investigations’.

Videos found on the phones are also being analysed by detectives.

Police have seized a tractor slasher and sedan from the rural property.

The content is believed to include videos made of each other and require translation.

The married couple have two teenage children and owned the 55-hectare property, which contains animals and cane.

The children were not home at the time of their mother’s death and interstate relatives have travelled to Queensland to watch over them for the time being.

Court documents say Singh is a truck driver who was born in India.

Singh’s matter was mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday. Police prosecutor Karine Evans said a pathology report would take three months.

‘There is also going to be a lengthy delay in relation to the forensic and mechanical [evidence of the alleged] tractor involved,’ she said.

‘There were quite a number of recordings on both the defendant’s and victim’s phones which require translation, so those are probably going to be the lengthiest delays.’

Forensic investigators are currently combing over the property and searching nearby lakes for additional evidence.

A full brief of evidence will be ordered by May 17.

Singh is represented by defence lawyer Corey Cook and the matter is now adjourned to June 5 in Beenleigh Magistrates Court for a committal mention.
