A Washington state mother will spend the next two-plus decades in prison after she sold her young daughter to a man who sexually abused the girl, the Spokesman-Review reports.
On Wednesday, 31-year-old Kylie Ruby Flores was sentenced to 23 years behind bars after pleading guilty to conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking.
Authorities alleged that Flores sold her 6-year-old daughter to Trever Harder, whom she met on the dating website Plenty of Fish, in exchange for running shoes, cash and a place to live near Spokane.
Harder is accused of raping the girl multiple times in his apartment and recording the abuse on camera in 2021.
“The facts of this case present some of the most egregious sexual abuse of a child one can imagine,” U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref said in a statement, according to the newspaper. “Today’s sentence is important, but it is equally important to remember that Flores’ sentence will likely be much shorter than the lifelong impact on the child. No sentence can return the child’s innocence, but our community is now safer and stronger.”
The girl described the abuse to investigators. In one instance, Harder put a camera on a cat tree and recorded an assault on a couch, KREM-TV reports.

Harder also has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing. After Flores is released from prison, she will be subject to federal supervision for the remainder of her life.
“Thanks to an effective and cooperative investigation, she is neither missing nor murdered today — but she is not the only child in danger,” Waldref added in the statement, according to the Spokesman-Review. “Today’s sentence sends a clear message to those who seek to sexually abuse children: Justice is coming.”
