Toowoomba teen allegedly shot in the arm by woman, 18, at hotel in Queensland

A teen girl is at risk of losing her arm after she was allegedly shot by a woman inside a hotel.

The 16-year-old girl was with a group of people at a hotel on Annand Street, in Toowoomba, 125km west of Brisbane, on Tuesday afternoon when she and a 37-year-old woman were hit by a rogue gunshot.

Police allege the bullet may have been fired accidentally by an 18-year-old woman holding a sawn-off shotgun.

A crime scene was established at the hotel and the 16-year-old was rushed to hospital in Brisbane suffering a significant injury to her arm.

She will now undergo several reconstructive procedures as doctors urgently work to repair the limb.

The 37-year-old woman also suffered injuries to her chest and arm and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The 18-year-old woman has since been hit with a string of weapons related offences.

She spent the night in police custody after being charged with grievous bodily harm, wounding, dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of weapons (firearm) and authority required to possess explosives.

The 18-year-old will face Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said it appeared the gun was not fired intentionally, the Courier Mail reported. 

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the walkway area between Annand and Ruthven Streets, known as Kwong Sang Walk, between 2.30pm and 2.45pm on Tuesday, and who may have seen any persons acting suspiciously, to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
