A trio of gangsters are charged in the horrific murder of a toddler, who was fatally struck in the head by a stray bullet while he was napping in his car seat. The youngster’s mother was driving along a California freeway when her car got caught in the deadly crossfire. Her 23-month-old victim, Jasper Wu, was only weeks away from turning two when he was fatally struck.

The senseless crime took place November 6, 2021 at 2pm during a rolling gun battle between two notorious San Francisco rival criminal street gangs – Chopper City and Eddy Rock on on Interstate 880 in Oakland California. A single shot that came from the Altima hit Wu’s family car, instead of the Infiniti, their intended target, prosecutors said.

The bullet went through the windshield, striking and killing the toddler. The bullet was found lodged in the seat under Jasper’s car seat, District Attorney Nancy O’Malley said. Pictured: Grief-stricken mother Cherry Wu.

The four gang members – Trevor Green, 22, Ivory Bivins, 24; and Johnny Jackson, 28 (pictured) – were charged with murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Alameda County District Attorney’s Office announced during a Thursday press conference, ABC3 News reported.

The fourth suspect, Keison Lee, was killed in a separate shooting last month. Bivins and Green were also charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and criminal street gang conspiracy.

Wu was not the only child in the car. He had been in the vehicle with other relatives, including three other children.

Wu’s father, Jihao Wu and family spokesperson, Carl Chan, appeared at the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland, California on Thursday with other family members. They all listened intently as California Highway Patrol Assistant Chief Jason Reardon announced the murder charges of his son’s killers. District Attorney O’Malley said during the conference: ‘How could this horrific tragedy have happened?,’ she said. ‘It happened because two rival gangs were having a rolling gun battle on Highway 880 … across the freeway at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.’
