Worry is mounting for a Virginia nurse who has been missing since last month, in what police are calling “involuntary circumstances.”
On Monday night, members of Prince William County’s Nepalese community joined nurses who work with Mamta Kafle Bhatt, 28, in a show of solidarity to find the missing mother.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Bhaytt, a pediatric nurse at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center, was last seen in Manassas Park on July 31. Police issued a missing person alert over the weekend.
Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Lugo said Bhatt’s husband reported her missing on August 5 after she didn’t check in for work on August 1. When asked about the delay in reporting her missing, the husband told WUSA 9 that that was a question for police.
“This is unlike her,” her friend Sunita Basnet Thapa said, according to NBC Washington. “So, you know, I’m so much worried and it’s been many days.”
On Monday, Bhatt’s husband spoke to the crowd by phone, telling them he couldn’t be there because he had to care for their 11-month-old daughter.
“I need to find her as soon as possible, using all the tools, community, society, police,” he said.
Bhatt is described as standing 5 feet tall and weighing around 130 pounds. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Manassas Park police at 703-361-1136.
