Jonbenet Ramsey

Colorado investigators are making progress in the Jon Benet Ramsey case, according to reports.

Sources told ABC that cutting-edge forensic and scientific technology is being used in the Ramsey case. They also claimed leading experts are involved in the ongoing homicide investigation.

“I’m not sure what it will take to bust it wide open, but it feels like it’s within reach,” an investigator told The New York Post. “We’re hoping for 2025; this is our year.”

A source told the Post that a multi-agency team has had one in-person meeting since 2023, though they are in regular contact. The sources did not provide specifics as to what progress is being made or if any suspects have been identified in Ramsey’s slaying.

Ramsey was found bludgeoned and strangled in the basement of her Boulder home hours after she was reported missing and a ransom note was discovered at her residence.

Ramsey’s father has pressed Boulder police to retest evidence with updated genetic technology to obtain new leads in their daughter’s unsolved murder. He also urged the FBI to make child murder a federal crime — allowing the agency to automatically intervene in cases involving children 12 and younger.

No arrests have been made in the 1996 slaying. Ramsey’s mother, Patsy Ramsey, died of ovarian cancer in 2006.

Meanwhile, a police source told the New York Post that Boulder police chief Steve Redfearn, who was appointed in September, is prioritizing the Ramsey case.

“He wants it solved and off the books, and he’s assigning officers and resources to solving the murder, which has been a black mark on the Boulder PD,” the source commented. “We f**ked the case up from the start, and now with new blood, we can finally fix it.”

Anyone with information regarding JonBenét Ramsey’s murder should call or email the Boulder Police Department at 303-441-1974 or BouldersMostWanted@bouldercolorado.gov.
