A 23-year-old mother in Louisiana is accused of transporting multiple children to a local school so they could “fight other kids” before she allegedly got behind the wheel and “tried to run over a group of elementary students with her car” because “things didn’t go her way.”

Lejonkica Sharp was taken into custody last week and charged with six counts of aggravated assault in connection with the alleged incident.

According to a news release from the Shreveport Police Department, the incident took place at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at an elementary school some 350 miles northwest of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“On April 29, officers were called to Pine Grove Elementary after a parent reportedly dropped off kids to fight other kids … then tried to run over a group of elementary students with her car when things didn’t go her way,” the statement said.

Another parent who was at the school at the time called 911 and told the emergency dispatcher that a woman — later identified as Sharp — had pulled up to the school and let several young children out of her vehicle, Shreveport Fox affiliate KMSS reported. The children allegedly exited Sharp’s car with the intention of fighting the caller’s elementary school-age children.

The caller said that when her children fled the area on foot, Sharp attempted to run them over.

At least one of the children Sharp brought to the school was her child, Shreveport CBS affiliate KSLA reported.

“Our patrol officer working at the school got right on it — reviewed the footage, got the facts, and identified the suspect as Lejonkica Sharp,” police wrote in the release.

Investigators said that when they were able to make contact with Sharp, she claimed that the caller’s children had been “throwing rocks at her car, but investigators obtained surveillance footage from the school which they say “told a very different story.”

“Footage clearly showed Sharp deliberately trying to hit six children with her vehicle,” the release states.

Authorities took Sharp into custody on May 1 and thanked the Caddo Parish School Board for its help in getting to the bottom of what apparently transpired.

“If you’re encouraging your kids to fight at school, you are the problem,” the police department posted to its official Facebook page. “If you think the solution to kid drama is vehicular assault — we’ve got a spot for you, and it’s not in the carpool line. Do better, parents. Seriously.”
