A model who lives in Florida shot and killed her husband and then killed herself earlier this week, Sunshine State authorities say.
On Wednesday, Sabrina Krasniqi, 27, gunned down Pajtim Krasniqi, 34, while he was out on the couple’s balcony of their apartment near Miami, according to law enforcement. Then, she took her own life.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours — just after midnight — at the posh Beach Club Hallandale Tower II on South Ocean Drive in Hallandale Beach, a medium-sized city along the coast.
Police say they responded to a ShotSpotter alert at around 12:30 a.m. which suggested shots had been fired near the address in question.
Five shots were reportedly fired in quick succession; then the shooter took a beat; then came the sixth, and final, gunshot, according to the Hallandale Beach Police Department, Miami-based ABC affiliate WPLG reports.
On Facebook, the victim’s sister wrote that her sister-in-law shot her brother in the chest five times, seemingly confirming the order of the doubly fatal gun violence.
“My Thanksgiving Eve wasn’t spent with my husband and children,” the grieving sister wrote. “It wasn’t spent with friends. It was spent with police officers, detectives and news reports talking about the vicious and senseless murder of my youngest brother by his wife. Pajtimi’s wife chose to take my brother’s life away from him when she shot 5 bullets into his chest.”
Inside and outside condo unit number 4508, responding officers were met with a grim and gruesome scene.
Both husband and wife were on the balcony floor; pools of blood were visible underneath and near both bodies.
Local media helicopter-affixed video camera also caught glimpses of the pre-holiday carnage.
The WPLG camera recorded footage of a heart-shaped box, roses, and a teddy bear inside the unit — outside a yellow tarp over a corpse.
The camera owned by Miami-based Fox affiliate WSVN recorded footage of a television still on and bullet holes in the glass door leading outside.
“Through the investigation, it has been determined that Sabrina Krasniqi fatally shot her husband multiple times before taking her own life,” police said in a press release obtained by Miami-based NBC affiliate WTVJ. “The incident occurred within their shared residence.”
The couple also had ties to New York City.
The wife is said to have once lived in the Queens neighborhood of Astoria. She worked there as a model under the name “Sabrina Dzaferovic,” according to WPLG. She was once featured in an “Inside Edition” feature on the prevalence of cat-calling in the Big Apple.
The killing shocked the area.
“I’ve never seen something like this since I was a little kid,” a neighbor told WSVN. “It’s wild.”
Authorities have not floated a motive for the murder-suicide as of this writing.
Law&Crime reached out to the police department for additional details about this story but no response was immediately forthcoming at the time of publication.
“The person he trusted the most, the person he chose to spend his life with was the one who took his away from him,” the victim’s sister continued in her Facebook post. “She betrayed him, his love and his trust. She shattered my family. My siblings and I will never be the same. I’m terrified my mother will not ever recover. I love you always Pajtim RIP.”
