A federal judge in New York appears poised to hold Rudy Giuliani in contempt for refusing to disclose court-ordered information requested by the two Georgia election workers he defamed as they try to collect on the $148 million judgment.

U. S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman on Friday rejected Giuliani’s request for an order of protection that would have allowed the former New York City mayor to continue withholding the information requested by Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss in connection with the massive defamation judgment.

In the brief four-page order, Liman emphasized that Giuliani had repeatedly missed filing deadlines and flouted court orders regarding the specific information being sought by the election workers during pretrial discovery. Liman further indicated that the court had made a decision regarding multiple requests from the plaintiffs that Giuliani be held in contempt.

“The law imposes consequences on parties who disregard their obligations,” Liman wrote.
