Texas Woman Rescued After Allegedly Being Held Captive for 4 Years

Firefighters used power tools to cut through bars on a mobile home Wednesday night to rescue a woman who said she’d been held prisoner there for nearly four years.

Harris County officials said Abraham Bravo Segura, 42, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, KTRK reported.

At a court hearing on Thursday, a prosecutor said that all the exits to the mobile home were blocked, with burglar bars on all the windows. The woman, the prosecutor said, found a cell phone while Segura was away at work and called for help.

“The defendant had kept the complainant inside a trailer for approximately four years,” she told the hearing officer.

Bolt cutters didn’t cut through padlocks on the doors on Wednesday night when authorities responded to the woman’s call, so they resorted to power tools on the bars.

Segura clearly disagreed with the prosecutor’s version of events during the hearing, KTRK said, but the hearing officer noted that an arraignment hearing wasn’t the place for that.

“We’re not going to argue the facts of the case today,” the hearing officer said.

Segura, a barber and tattoo artist, was given a $150,000 bond and ordered to house arrest if he makes bond.
