Community Shocked After Police Fatally Shoot Autistic Idaho Teen

A Texas woman allegedly left a child in a hot car, in the Galena Park area of Houston, while she worked Tuesday.

According to KHOU, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that the 36-year-oldmother arrived at the USG office on Mayo Shell Road for her 6 a.m. shift, left her 9-year-old daughter in the car.

The mother left sone water in the car, partially rolled down the windows, and put sunshades up before starting her work. At around 2 p.m., the mother arrived back at the vehicle and found the girl unresponsive. Police received a call at around 2:06 p.m.

“The child was transported to LBJ hospital and pronounced deceased. The location is the parking lot of an industrial complex,” Gonzalez said.

The mother, whose name has not been publicly released, was detained for questioning. Homicide detective are currently investigating, but no charges have been filed at this time,

“This death, along with the two now-confirmed as heat-related deaths in Texas on Friday and Saturday, brings the tragic total of Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke (PVH) tragedies for the year. This is three more than at the end of June last year,” Jan Null, CCM, Adjunct Professor of Meteorology at San Jose State University, told CrimeOnline in an emailed statement.
