Tennessee Men Arrested After Missing Man Found Dead and Buried in Chest Freezer

A Tennessee murder suspect has been located and arrested in Louisiana.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation put Jim Chambers, 37, on its Most Wanted list earlier this week. Chambers was wanted in Carter County for murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence in the death of Edward Elliott, who was found dead on May 15, buried in a freezer in a remote area of Hampton, WJHL reported.

Elliot had been reported missing on March 31, but family members told law enforcement they hadn’t heard from him since January.

Joey Guinn, 46, was arrested on May 16 and charged with the same charges now faced by Chambers, WCYB reported. Investigators searched three locations in Hampton on May 15 and dug when a cadaver dog alerted to a spot.

Guinn is now being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a $5 million bond.

TBI said that Chambers was arrested with the help of the FBI, Louisiana State Police, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“I would also like to thank the public for their assistance in providing tips and spreading the word that we were looking for Mr. Chambers in the death of Mr. Elliott,” Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley said, according to WJHL.”It was an anonymous tip we received that ultimately led us to identify Mr. Chambers and Mr. Guinn as suspects in the murder of Mr. Elliott.”

Guinn appeared in court on Wednesday and was ordered to return on June 5, the Kingsport Times-News reported.

Chambers is being held without bond on a fugitive warrant pending extradition, according to Jefferson Parish jail records.
