Teen Girl Strangled by Abusive Girlfriend Over STD Claims, Body Found Near Bayou

An 18-year-old Texas woman who was found dead earlier this month was reportedly strangled by her girlfriend.

Shania Turner, 24, was arrested on Thursday for killing Tierra Horn, who was found dead along Buffalo Bayou in Houston on January 5. KPRC reported that the fatal altercation occurred as Turner believed Horn had given her a sexually transmitted disease.

Turner allegedly strangled Horn and left her body along a trail. Horn’s sisters told KTRK that Horn and Turner had dated on and off for a year. They claimed the relationship was abusive and Turner would cheat while Horn was in the home.

“It was very toxic. They used to fight and everything,” Skinesha Granville told the news outlet. “(She) used to hit on her and beat her, beat her up and stuff, and I just had to break it up.”

Horn was found dead three days after she vanished. The Harris County Institute for Forensic Science determined she died from “compression of the neck.”

Horn’s other sister, Rokeisha Calton, revealed to KRIV that Horn had injuries to her face but she would not say how she got them.

“I can’t help if you don’t tell me. We could have reported it,” she said.

Turner is charged with murder. On Friday, her bond was set at $100,000.
