A Georgia teenager was attempting to sell a prom dress to an acquaintance before the exchange turned into an alleged brawl.
Surveillance video provided to WSB, a local ABC affiliate, showed the violent confrontation that involved several young women and a male witness who tried to break up the fight. Gwinnett County Police arrested three of the women — 20-year-old Morgan Flinchum, Kaylee George, and Leila DeJager — involved in the alleged attack on the unnamed 18-year-old who showed up to sell the dress, two of whom were charged with battery, all of whom were charged with theft by taking.
According to police reports obtained by WSB, Flinchum was the original owner of the dress, but the alleged victim was in possession of it, and her mother had partially paid for it. The girls agreed to meet at a gas station where Flinchum would try the dress on in a restroom, accompanied by the seller. During that fitting, an unnamed third young woman then allegedly snatched the dress and ran out.
The police reports stated that a male witness, who was identified as the seller’s boyfriend by local Fox affiliate WAGA, who also obtained the police reports, was able to stop the alleged dress thief and get the dress back. But according to Gwinnett County Police, there were more girls outside who were ready to take the confrontation to the next level as Flinchum, George, and DeJager allegedly surrounded the seller.
In the video, the alleged victim can be seen in a chokehold by one of the suspects. In self-defense, she flipped her attacker over her shoulder, body slamming her to the ground. Flinchum then allegedly took a swing at the seller, but her boyfriend stepped in to separate the two young women. Another unidentified woman then allegedly grabbed the seller’s hair, prompting another physical struggle between the alleged victim and her multiple attackers.
Police reported that the 18-year-old had visible injuries and claimed to them that she wasn’t able to breathe while in the chokehold. Gwinnett County Cpl. Juan Madiedo told WSB that all the parties involved knew each other, and the three young women turned themselves in.
Flinchum and DeJager were both charged with battery and theft by taking; George was charged with theft by taking.
