A 17-year-old Colorado boy was allegedly shot in the face by a property owner while looking for a spot to take homecoming photos.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Brent Metz on charges of assault, felony menacing, illegal firearm discharge, and reckless endangerment. Metz is reportedly a Mountain View, Colorado town council member, Fox News Digital reports.
Police arrived at the 23000 block of Pleasant Park Road after a homeowner reported two trespassers on her property and informed her boyfriend. When deputies arrived, they found two vehicles on the roadside and a teenage boy with serious facial injuries.
The victim, who was bleeding heavily from wounds to his mouth and nose, told police he didn’t believe Metz intended to shoot him, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
The victim’s friend, sitting in the passenger seat of a car, saw Metz draw his gun and ducked as the windshield shattered. He heard Metz exclaim, “Oh no, my gun went off!”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, the friend ran to the driver’s side, and used his shirt to slow the bleeding. Metz tried to assist, but the friend pushed him away and questioned why he had shot his friend, according to the affidavit.
Metz’s girlfriend spotted the two teens on her property through a home security system and called polio. She then called Metz, who arrived at the property before the deputies.
He refused to say whether he had fired the shot, but he directed the deputy to the gun, which was reportedly inside his truck.
Metz was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of assault, felony menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment.
