A taxi driver stabbed during an alleged armed robbery while working the graveyard shift has been rushed to hospital.
The driver, 69, came into contact with his attacker on Carr Street in Hermit Park, Townsville around 3:20am on Friday.
Police say the driver was stabbed with a ‘bladed weapon’ before he attempted to reverse away, causing the male attacker to flee the scene.
Paramedics said that the victim suffered a stab wound to the abdomen.

They alerted authorities about what had happened as the victim was taken to the Townsville University Hospital.
Police have now established a crime scene and are searching for the attacker who remains at large.
They are urging anyone who saw the attack or may have dashcam footage to contact police.
