A Georgia man suspected of kidnapping his daughter killed her and then himself after he crashed his car during a police chase.
The Clayton County Police Department said the incident began around 9:30 p.m. when police from nearby Henry County asked them for a welfare check at a home following reports of a domestic dispute and a possible kidnapping of two children.
No one responded when officers arrived at the home, but Jonesboro police later spotted the suspect vehicle and called Clayton County for backup.
Officers followed the car, driven by Lionel Edwards, into a cul-de-sac in Riverdale. Officers attempted to approach the vehicle, but Edwards began to drive off.

He hit a bush and had to stop, however, and police reported they heard multiple gunshots.
Officers found the girl dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Edwards had a single gunshot, self-inflicted, and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Police did not provide the girl’s age, and it wasn’t clear if there was a second child involved.
