The ex-boyfriend of a Detroit nurse found shot to death in the trunk of her car on Sunday has been arrested.
Patrice Wilson, 29, was abducted from the parking lot of the hospital where she worked as she finished her overnight shift Saturday morning, as CrimeOnline previously reported. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Jamere Miller, ambushed her in the parking lot, forced her into the passenger seat of her car, and drove away, police said.
Wilson was found dead Sunday morning in Novi, a suburb to the north of Detroit, but Miller remained at large.
Detroit Police Chief James E. White said that after police had executed a number of search warrants, Miller was “feeling the pressure of this investigation” and negotiated his surrender through his lawyer, ABC News reported.
“It’s a tragedy that somebody like Ms. Wilson would be taken away from this world so young and so tragically in this horrific way,” White said. “She was young and she had her whole life ahead of her. She was dedicated to serving and helping others as a nurse and putting others before herself. Ms. Wilson has been described as ‘cherished’ by her family and friends, and as well as her co-workers.”

Noting that Wilson was the mother of a young child, the chief said it was “absolutely heartbreaking” for Wilson to be murder on Mother’s Day weekend.
Police said Miller had a “significant” criminal history that included domestic violence and that Wilson “appeared to have done everything right” in getting out of the relationship, but “his violence and his persistence” followed her.
