A man has been charged with murder after the body of another man was found in a unit in the Brisbane suburb of Stones Corner (pictured) in the early hours of Friday morning

A man has been charged with murder after the body of another man was found in a suburban unit in the early hours of Friday morning.

The 61-year-old’s body was found when police were called to a property on Vine St in the southern Brisbane suburb of Stones Corner at about 1am to conduct a welfare check.

Police believe the man died after an alleged altercation in the unit at around 10pm a week earlier, on August 9.

Following a police search, a 40-year-old man was arrested on the Sunshine Coast in the early hours of this morning, just after midnight.

He has been charged with murder and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, August 19.

Police allege the two men knew each other.

A crime scene investigation into the exact nature of the man’s death is continuing.
