A 23-year-old woman in Texas has been arrested for allegedly killing her boyfriend, fatally shooting the 28-year-old man in a jealous rage after going through his cellphone and seeing messages from another woman.

Tatyana Evans was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with one count of murder in the slaying of Geovanni Montague, authorities announced. According to a news release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and homicide detectives in the early morning hours of Feb. 9 responded to a call about a murder victim in the 10700 block of Barely Lane, near Jones Road. Upon arriving at the address, first responders located Montague, who appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, lying unresponsive in the street. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that Montague and Evans were involved in a “volatile” romantic relationship and that investigators believe that the motive for the shooting was “possibly stemming from jealousy.”
