EASTENDERS
Forget shining knights, the Knight family have revealed themselves to be very much Knights in tarnished armour.
They’re making the Vic’s previous incumbents, the Carters, look like the Waltons. And there’s even more trouble ahead when the family learn of daughter Gina’s relationship with rapist Dean.
Despite throwing a massive wobbly with her disapproving family, and then another with Dean, Gina eventually hears the latter out and agrees to give him a second chance.
Thankfully, the honeymoon period doesn’t last long when the date takes a dark turn and Dean reveals his true colours. Maybe Gina ditching her Marbella crop tops and discovering her winter wardrobe makes her see sense.
It’s now only a matter of time before her parents, Cindy and her ex-husband George, get it together, given that they have to keep such a close eye on their daughters’ bad choice in men.

This week on UK soap opera EastEnders, Gina is in danger as her family learns about her relationship with rapist Dean
Yes, sister Anna hasn’t chosen well either, and Cindy is unhappy to see Anna and Bobby leaving number 45 after spending the night together.
She tells Anna that she can do much better than Bobby, and I’m with her there. With bells on.
But Anna is adamant and insists Bobby’s a good guy. Well, apart from the teeny-weeny issues of killing his sister – and Dennis’s pet spider, let’s not forget.
Not to mention his attack on Jane. His worst crime, though? He’s just really boring.
Now, why does Kat agree to a date with Nish, even though Stacey tells her the truth about Eve? What’s she thinking?
‘OK, mate; you arranged to have your wife’s lesbian lover killed and dumped in a forest, and, yes, you went down for killing a man you thought was her lover, but hey-ho, we all have our issues.’ These aren’t just skeletons in his closet; he’s a veritable walking morgue.
The fact that he’s walking at all is not good news for Suki, who is fearful when Nish tells her his memory is returning – but is it?
In return for not going to the police, he wants Suki to sign over their businesses to him. Time for another bottle over his head, I reckon.
CORONATION STREET
Please can Ed just win the lottery? There are even more money worries when bailiffs arrive, though it’s hard to see what they could take that would cover costs of more than a fiver. When the sale of the builder’s yard falls through, does Ed’s hardship have anything to do with it being set ablaze?
Michael rushes in, looking for Ed, but finds himself trapped when the fire spreads. Will he be rescued? Let’s hope so. We could do with some hunky firemen to spice things up; how much longer can the show spin out Ken being a major heartthrob?
There’s light in the dark passionless tunnel with the arrival of Tommy Orpington, last seen at the end of 2023 in Preston’s Petals. When Tracy hires the ex-Weatherfield striker (seemingly, their only player ever until James Bailey arrived) to do some decorating, it’s a fresh lick of paint amid the doom and gloom.
Steve is excited by the presence of his hero, but how long before Tracy gets her mucky paws on him? Methinks it won’t be only the walls he’ll be stripping.

In Coronation Street, Michael (pictured) rushes in, looking for Ed, but finds himself trapped when the fire spreads
Dee Dee’s despair over Dad’s debts
The New Year has started badly for Corrie’s Dee-Dee, who has to contend with Ed’s debts. With mum Aggie still away (looking after the sickest aunt on the planet), will Dee-Dee have to step up even further to help her dad?
‘She feels the pressure,’ says Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee, ‘because she wasn’t there the last time it happened. But things are spiralling out of her control.’
EMMERDALE
Angel’s left terrified after spilling the beans
With Heath’s funeral over, attention turns to the police investigation, and Cathy is furious when Bob suggests waiting for the forensic results.
If the cops had trouble tracking down serial killer Meena, don’t expect those results to come back in your lifetime, Bob.

This week on Emmerdale, Angel is left terrified after spilling the beans
Jimmy makes Nicola uneasy by telling Angel to keep lying to the police about her guilt, but unable to bear Bob’s suffering, the youngster confesses all (below with Nicola and Jimmy) and is terrified when she’s arrested for causing death by dangerous driving. Phew. That must be a relief for the forensics team, who can now head for the pub.
Chas’s kiss with Liam barely had time to dry before things turned sour when he found a lump in her breast, and at the hospital it’s bad news when she receives a cancer diagnosis. Inevitably, she struggles, but this is the kind of storyline that saves lives in encouraging women to be vigilant.
Nate’s suspicions are finally aroused about Tracy’s possible infidelity. You’d have thought that always looking as if she’s been dragged through a hedge backwards would have been evidence enough. Bless him. He was never the leanest chop in the flock.
