On Tuesday, a Tennessee woman allegedly admitted to strangling her 12-year-old and trying to kill her 4-year-old son, who was briefly missing.
An endangered child alert was issued for the younger boy after his brother, Esteban Sylvester, was found dead by their father at their Shelbyville apartment on Monday. Patricia Sylvester, 32, who was located with her missing son shortly thereafter, confessed to killing the 12-year-old and attempting to kill her other son, WSMV reported.
Police said Patricia Sylvester tried to conceal evidence before fleeing with her son to the Bedford County area, according to WGNS Radio. WTVF reported that she also traveled to Coffee County before she and her son were found.
WTVF reported that the evidence suggests Esteban Sylvester was strangled. However, an autopsy is pending.
Police said that they never responded to the home before Monday’s incident.

Patricia Sylvester is charged with criminal homicide and attempted criminal homicide. The 4-year-old was examined at the hospital for his injuries. His condition was not disclosed.
