Body camera video released Monday shows a Los Angeles police officer fatally shooting a 63-year-old woman who was pointing a gun at him after she broke into her sister’s house and set it on fire.
A woman called the Los Angeles Police Department around 2 p.m. on Dec. 1 to say that her sister, Lisa Davis, barged into her home armed with a gun and pepper sprayed her. Davis began vandalizing the home as her sister hid in the bathroom, the victim told 911 dispatchers.
“She setting a fire! Call the fire department,” the sister exclaimed. “She set the living room on fire. She’s throwing everything in the fire to make it bigger.”
Dispatchers told responding officers there was a woman with a gun. When they arrived on the scene, the body camera showed smoke billowing from the home.
“Suspect’s supposed to be in the back,” a sergeant said. “Guns out, guns out.”

Officers went up to the home and found the victim behind a fence in the front. As they rescued her, she told cops she thought her sister was in the backyard.
“We’re going into the backyard,” the sergeant said.
Another officer followed and walked behind the garage, and saw Davis who was pointing a gun at him, the video showed.
“Hey! Let me see your f—ing hands!” the officer said.
Davis appears to immediately respond “no” and keeps the gun pointed directly at the officer.
The cop then fired about five shots, and Davis fell to the ground. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel took Davis to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. Officers recovered Davis’ Walther Model P22, a .22 caliber handgun.
An investigation will determine whether officers followed LAPD policies and procedures.
