A biological father and daughter in Indiana are facing criminal charges for getting married in July.
Bradley McCollum, 59, (not pictured) and Kimberly Tempel, 44, allegedly got married while Tempel was in the middle of a divorce. Evansville police said McCollum also lied on the marriage license when claiming he was not a convicted lifetime sex or violent offender — as he has a federal conviction for child pornography, according to WPTA.
McCollum’s sister reportedly told investigators that he and Tempel were estranged when he went to federal prison. However, the pair allegedly corresponded through letters and emails. McCollum’s sister also said she believed her brother and niece got married so she could collect his $350 monthly V.A. benefits while he was in prison, according to WPTA.
The news outlet reported that McCollum’s sister also provided documentation from a DNA service showing the probability of McCollum being Tempel’s biological father as more than 99.999999%.
McCollum and Tempel are charged with providing false information on a marriage license application. Tempel is also charged with bigamy.
McCollum is still in federal prison. His release is scheduled for July 29.
