SEE IT: Police Release Video, Photo of Texas Mall Shooter

The Austin Police Department has released a video and photo following a shooting that put Lakeline Mall on lockdown.

On Thursday, a shooting occurred at Lakeline Mall, located in the 11200 block of Lakeline Mall Drive. CBS Austin reports that a disagreement between two groups in the mall’s food court escalated into gunfire, resulting in a mandatory evacuation.

“Officers responded not knowing who else was inside the mall. The mall itself implemented its lockdown procedures,” Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said.

Davis believes the incident began as a fight involving four individuals who were seen fleeing the scene. APD stated that they were unable to locate any of the suspects after the altercation.

APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit detectives are requesting information regarding the incident and assistance in locating any suspects.

Detectives have released a photo, description, and video of the person suspected of being the shooter.

APD describes the suspected shooter as a “Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20s,” who was last seen wearing dark-colored pants, a hoodie, and shoes.

It was later determined that one individual sustained an injury. Police were initially unaware of the injury because the person left the scene and sought medical attention on their own, according to APD’s release.

Anyone with information should contact APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org.
