Scottie Morris: Public Searches Suspended for Indiana Boy, 14, Who Vanished After Family Dispute

The Eaton Indiana Police Department asked Thursday for residents to check their home security footage from March 16, around the time 14-year-old Scottie Morris vanished.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the Indiana State Police issued a statewide Silver Alert on March 17 for Scottie, who was last seen around 8:30 p.m. on March 16 in Eaton, where he lives. There was some sort of conflict in the home before he disappeared, according to Eaton police.

“We are asking Eaton residents that have cameras posted on their houses to please check your footage from 8:15 pm to 11:00 pm on March 16th 2023,” the police department said on Facebook. “If you find anything of interest, please contact the Police Department at (765) 396-3297. Thank You!”

“THIS IS A SECOND REQUEST FOR THIS,” the post added. “At this time we are trying to reach out to residents that didn’t see it before!”

Last week, police said they have suspended the public searches for Scottie, while Eaton Deputy Police Chief Chris Liggett said the department plans to discuss the next steps in Scottie’s disappearance with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, local agencies, and the Indiana State Police.

Eaton Police Chief Jay Turner explained that the next steps will include working alongside several agencies while utilizing K9 units and “investigating diligently.”

Meanwhile, the Eaton community held a candlelight prayer vigil on Thursday, hosted by several area churches. Event organizer, Teresa Wilkerson, told Fox 59 that members in the community are hoping to spread awareness and bring the child home safely.

“I know everybody is afraid for Scottie. Everybody wants Scottie home,” Wilkerson said. “They will not stop until they find Scottie.”

Scottie is described as a white male who stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with writing on the front, that said “liar” and “cheat,” among other words. He was also wearing black and red shorts and black shoes.

Eaton Police Chief Jay Turner said police have not had any previous dealings with Scottie or his family, adding that he disappeared after a “normal” family dispute with his mother, Felicia Morris. She’s currently cooperating with investigators, Turner added.

“It was over punishment,” Turner said. “And I think it was just a normal mom and son argument and he walked away.”

Anyone with information on Scottie’s whereabouts is urged to call the Eaton Police Department at 765-396-3297 or 911.
