Scooter rider killed in car crash at North Ryde, Sydney

A scooter rider has been killed following a crash with a four-wheel drive.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Epping Road and Lane Cove Road, in North Ryde, Sydney’s northwest, at about 5am on Friday following reports of a collision.

Paramedics desperately worked to revive the scooter rider but he was unable to be saved and died at the scene. He is yet to be identified.

The driver of the 4WD has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have set up a crime scene with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing while commuters on their way to work have been warned of road closures.

Both of the northbound right turning lanes on Lane Cove Road are closed, while two of the three southbound lanes have also been shut down.

Drivers have been told to expect delays throughout Friday morning.
