Schizophrenic Mom Still Missing Nearly 3 Weeks After She Left Home Without Phone, Wallet

The search continues for a California woman who has not been seen in nearly three weeks.

A Silver Alert was issued for Geetaben Patel, 58, who was filmed walking out of her La Palma home on September 2. KABC reported that she has schizophrenia.

California Highway Patrol said Patel was last seen on Santa Margarita Lane and Del Sol Circle in La Palma. KTLA reported that she left without her phone or wallet.

Since then, La Palma police confirmed to KTLA that they have not gotten any leads in this case.

Patel’s son told KABC that his father watched her on the day in question while he went to get food. Patel reportedly left the home a minute after her son — who believes his mother stopped taking her medication in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.

“When she gets in that state of mind, she gets very scared. She’ll usually lock herself up in a corner or a room. The day she went missing and the night before, she was locking herself up in the bathroom, so she might be in a really small corner,” Patel’s son explained to the news outlet.

Patel was described as standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She was reportedly last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and purple and white pajama pants without shoes.

Anyone with information regarding Patel’s whereabouts is asked to call the La Palma Police Department.
